The 2023 FHSI Showcase featured several standout performances across 16 games. The Florida League would like to recognize the following individuals:

Blake Brookins, Miami Palmetto High School - Tournament Most Valuable Player

7-12 (.583 AVG), 4R, 2-2B, 3RBI, 1.420 OPS, 5.8 Runs Created

Blake Brookins was a step above the rest during the FHSI Showcase. Brookins led the tournament in batting average, hits, runs created, OBP (.670) and was second in slugging percentage (.750). He undoubtedly led the tournament in hardest hit balls, some of which unluckily ended up as outs. Brookins didn't just do it with his bat as he flashed the leather in right field as well. Brookins' performance helped propel his team into the Championship Game.

Corey Kling, West Boca - Tournament Most Valuable Pitcher

6.2 IP, 3H, 2BB, 14K

Kling was "lights out" in his start against a good hitting Pembroke Pines Charter team. He turned in one of the best FHSI performances in history with 14 strikeouts in his 7 innings of work while allowing just three hits and two walks. His dominance on the mound was nearly enough to propel his team into the Championship but Miami Palmetto narrowly escaped on a tiebreak. For good measure, earlier in the week Kling went 2-2 at the plate with a double and an RBI to help his team to an 8-4 win over IMG Silver.
