2022 Classic MVP's & All Tournament Team

While the Championship Game was postponed to a date to be announced, the Florida League is pleased to announce the award winners for the 2022 "Classic" bracket of the Florida League High School Invitational. Viera's Lucas Glendinning and The First Academy's Jayden Bastian split Most Valuable Player honors, while West Orange's Will Ross and Lake Howell's Chance Fitzgerald were honored as the Most Valuable Pitchers.

Glendinning was the best two-way player in the tournament, helping Viera to a 3-0 record and a spot in the championship game of the tournament. The junior drove in at least two runs in all three of Viera's games, going 5-for-10 with seven runs batted in. On the mound, Glendinning no-hit the Brahmans of Okeechobee on Monday, striking out nine hitters in a 6-0 win on the first day of the tournament.

Bastian was one of the leaders of The First Academy's insane lineup, which racked up 50 runs in the Royals' four games. Bastian led the tournament in hits (9), runs scored (7), home runs (2), and runs batted in (10). A junior committed to Jacksonville, Bastian had at least two hits in all four games, and homered in TFA's final two games against Deltona (where he went 3-for-4 with five RBIs) and Spruce Creek.

Ross dominated in the FHSI for the second season in a row. Getting the start on Monday against Timber Creek, the senior Florida commit tossed a complete game one-hitter in West Orange's 2-1 win. Ross struck out 14 of the 26 Timber Creek hitters he faced to earn the win. In two seasons in the FHSI, Ross has thrown 15 innings without allowing an earned run, and has struck out 22 hitters.

Fitzgerald was the ace of staff for Lake Howell, who won three straight games to advance to the championship game. The junior Florida State commit finished off Lake Howell's Monday win over Orangewood with a scoreless inning, then allowed just one hit over six innings in Thursday's semifinal win over Martin County. Over his seven innings on the mound, Fitzgerald allowed just one hit, striking out eleven.
