Championship Game
University 2
Spruce Creek 1
Box Score: Coming Soon
The championship game was an absolute pitchers duel between the Titans and Hawks. After a quiet first inning, University would load the bases with no outs to start the second inning. With Josue Figuroa batting, Preston Wetherell stumbled on a pitch causing a run scoring balk only to be followed up by a passed ball a few pitches later that led to a 2-0 lead for University. These would be the only runs that University would score in the game against Wetherell and Lucas Mahlstead.
For as good as Wetherell and Mahlstead were for Spruce Creek, Bryce Swindle was a tad bit better, throwing six innings and continuously working out of jams. He left the game in the top of the seventh after an error and walk got the first two batters of the inning on base for the Hawks. Andy Perez would take the mound, getting the first out on a sac bunt. Rhett Foster would drive in the only run of the game for Spruce Creek on a sac fly to center. After an error extended the inning by a batter, Perez would enforce a pop up in foul territory in front of the first base dugout for the win and the title!
University went 3-1 on their path to the Showcase Championship while Spruce Creek finished 2-2.
SouthLake Christian 11
Key West 7
Box Score: Coming Soon
Five hits, four walks, and 13 batters later, the SouthLake Christian Eagles sprinted to an 8-0 lead after the first half inning of the morning. Although the Conchs would chip away throughout the duration of the game, the first inning was simply too much to overcome.
The Eagles would have six different players record RBIs: Devyn Campbell (3), Nicholas Noto (2), Garrett Brouwer (2), Derek Farley (1), Matthew Asuma (1), and Jim Burnham (1).
SouthLake Christian finished the Showcase with a 2-2 record after starting the tournament 0-2. Key West also finished 2-2, but went in the opposite direction of the Eagles. The Conchs won Pool A by going 2-0, but lost in the Semi-Final round to University before dropping today's finale.
Gainesville 4
Rockledge 11
Box Score: Coming Soon
Gainesville hit three straight singles (Nate Kemph-Andrew Pickles-Josh Morrison) in the top of the first to get a 1-0 lead, but Rockledge would bounce back and score two in the bottom of the inning with a bases loaded walk and a 4-6-3 DP. The Raiders would add a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI double from Chase Leblanc, and also score the following inning on a sac fly from Brady Skradski to make it 4-1 through three innings.
The Hurricanes would not go away quietly and come around to score three times on an error and fielder's choice in the top of the fourth to tie up the game 4-4. Unfortunately for the Gainesville, Rockledge continued their trend of scoring in every inning when Chase Leblanc hit another RBI double, and would tack one more run on a single from Stephen Wojcik to make it 6-4. In the bottom of the fifth, a seventh run was scored for the Raiders on a RBI single from Julian Balzer. Wojick would complete the trend for the Raiders of scoring in every inning they batted when he hit a deep single to left to make it an 8-4 game in the sixth. Rockledge would end up winning the game 11-4.
Rockledge finished the Showcase 3-1 with their only loss coming in the Semi-Final round to tournament Runner-Up Spruce Creek. Gainesville went 0-4 in the tournament.
