MVP
Jake Holland, Montverde
The high powered Montverde offense has many quality athletes, but none stood out more than catcher Jake Holland. The junior started his week off with a bang, going 3-3 with a double, home run and five RBI in the opener against Ocoee. In the nightcap of the doubleheader, he added a pair of doubles to his ledger. The next day, in the semi-final against Seminole, Holland drove in three more with a groundout and a double, his fourth of the week. For the week, Holland slashed .429/.429/.929 and had an OPS of 1.358. Holland is committed to play at the University of Miami when he graduates in 2019.
Cy Young
Kerry Wright, Montverde
Senior right-hander Kerry Wright was a force on the mound for Montverde in their matchup against Seminole in the semi-final on Thursday. In six of innings of work, Wright allowed only two hits (both singles) and one walk. He did not allow a run, and struck out seven. His combination of a fastball clocked as high as 96 and a nasty slider proved to be too much for the Seminole lineup. More than a dozen scouts were in attendance to watch the Louisville signee work on the mound.
