Jacob Bowen and Trenton Brickhouse provided the offense, and Derek West took care of the pitching duties allowing Trinity Christian to earn a Day 1 win over Viera on Monday.
After an uneventful first inning, the Eagles were able to put a couple of runs across the board in the second inning thanks to a two-run bomb off the bat of Bowen. West, who scored on the homer, took the lead and ran with it. He did not allow a run until the fourth inning when Anthony Martinez singled to score Sebastian Samuels. That would be the extent of the Hawks’ offense for the day, as west was able to shut them down through five innings, allowing just four hits and striking out eight.
The Eagles would blow the game open late, scoring four runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Brickhouse, Jacob Rathburn, Eric Ortiz and Sam Brunnig would all record RBIs in the final two frames. Dillon Smith came on in relief to finish the last two innings, and did so perfectly, allowing zero hits and striking out three. Bowen finished the game 203 with two runs and two RBI while Brickhouse was 2-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Niceville Eagles 10
University Titans 0
Chance Riley didn’t require a lot of help to secure the win, but the Niceville offense gave him ten runs of support anyway to help the Eagles to an opening day run rule victory over the University Titans.
Niceville was able to score early and often, starting in the bottom of the first inning. The first six batters for Niceville all reached safely, and three of them scored, highlighted by an RBI double from Tyler Head. They would add one more run in the second thanks to a leadoff double from Drew Frederic, who then scored on a wild pitch. After giving the plate a rest in the third inning, they were able to score another three in the fourth and three more in the fifth to make the score 10-0, securing the run rule victory.
Riley was magnificent in his five innings of work. He allowed just one hit and walked two while allowing zero runs and striking out six Titans. Three Eagles (Frederic , Head and Christian Huff) had multiple hits, with Head leading the charge. He was 3-4 at the plate with a double, two RBI and three runs scored.
Pembroke Pines Jaguars 6

Anthony Garcia was a force on the mound, and the Pembroke Pines received an early boost from the bottom of their lineup to earn a shutout win over El Rancho on Monday.
The Jaguars were able to take an early lead in the first inning when Peter Dourvetakis scored on a two out balk. They would then add five more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a bases loaded RBI triple off the bat of their 8-hole hitter, Jordan Corona.
That would be all the offense that Garcia needed as the senior righty dominated throughout the game. He went three up, three down in the first two innings, but found himself in a jam in the third. He allowed a walk and single to put two runners on with no outs, but was able to get the next three hitters to popout, strikeout and groundout to end the threat. He faced the minimum again in the fourth and fifth innings, and kept his scoreless streak going with a strong effort in the sixth. Teammate Amadeo Gonzalez finished the game with a scoreless final frame. Garcia ended the game with 6 innings pitched, allowing just two hits and no runs while striking out eight.
Deltona Wolves 4
Windward Wildcats 1
Zach Coleman’s arm and Marc Colon’s power bat helped the Deltona Wolves secure a Day 1 win over the visiting Windward Wildcats on Monday.
Colon blasted a solo homerun in the bottom of the second inning to give Coleman and Deltona a 1-0 lead that would last until the fourth inning. Tommy Turner scored in the frame without swinging the bat or being knocked in. He was hit by a pitch to reach first, advanced to third on a wild pitch and was able to score on a passed ball to tie the game. After allowing three more base runners, Coleman was able to escape the bases loaded jam by inducing a groundout to short. Deltona would pick him up immediately, scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning when Bryce Jones doubled with two outs. William Rosado would knock in Brian Rey one inning later to secure the lead and the 4-1 victory. Zach Coleman would finish with a line of six innings pitched, four hits and one run allowed, with four strikeouts. Rosado was 3-3 on the day with a run and one RBI.
