The 7th annual Florida League High School Invitational concluded on Friday night with San Gorgonio (CA) taking home the championship. The Spartans did not allow a run in four games (28 innings), finishing the championship game behind the stellar arm of Tournament Most Valuable Pitcher Hazahel Quijada. The junior pitcher allowed zero runs and just one hit in ten innings of work to go with 14 strikeouts to help the California school to their first FHSI championship in two appearances.
Seminole high school catcher Kyle Gilbert took home tournament MVP honors after finishing with a .385 average, five runs scored and three homeruns in four games.
