FHSI Showcase All-Tournament Team & MVP

MVP

Nate Leas

James Madison

8-13, 5 R, 3 2B, HR, 11 RBI, 2 SB

The James Madison Warhawks traveled to Florida from Virginia, and are headed back home with a perfect 4-0 record. During their time in the Sunshine State, the Warhawks amassed 38 runs in four games. Senior infielder Nate Leas was responsible for driving eleven of those runs. In the first game of the week, Leas went 2-3 with a double and three RBI. He also scored twice and stole a bag. In the next game against Westminster, Leas did not record a hit, but he still drove in one. The highlight of the week came in game three on Thursday against Cooper City. Leas recorded three hits, including two doubles and a home run. He scored twice and drove in seven in a blowout win. He then capped off his week by going 3-3 in his final game with a run and a walk in Friday's game. The eleven runs that Leas drove in were the same or more than four teams scored over the course of the entire week.

Cy Young

Travis Owens

IMG Academy

CG, 7 IP, 0 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 7 K

In a week full of impressive pitching performances, Travis Owens stood out above all others. In his start against Somerset Academy on Tuesday, the senior lefty held the Panthers without a hit for the entire game. Though he did allow one run on an error, Owens was in control throughout the game. Once the run was scored, he retired the next fourteen hitters in a row. He even went out in style, striking out the final batter of the game with a looking strike three.
